Mexico City service today with events and presentations by airline, airport and civic officials

Government, civic and business officials from AeroMexico, San Francisco International Airport, the Mexican Consulate and other organizations celebrated today the airline’s inauguration of daily, non-stop service between San Francisco and Mexico City.

The first flight departed San Francisco International Airport at 7 a.m. PST with arrival in Mexico City scheduled at 1:20 p.m. CST. Presentations marking the occasion were made by Frank Galan, Vice President, U.S. Operations, AeroMexico; Consul General Carlos Felix, Mexican Consulate; Kandace Bender, Deputy Airport Director, San Francisco International Airport; and Giancarlo Mulinelli, U.S. Western Region Director, AeroMexico. A ribbon-cutting event and special festivities for the passengers and dignitaries were also held at the departure gate.
Frank Galan, Vice President, U.S. Operations, AeroMexico, said, “AeroMexico is excited about launching service in San Francisco, the airline’s fourth city served in California. Today’s presenters described the importance of AeroMexico’s new flights in expanding international economic development, travel and tourism opportunities between two of North America’s largest metropolitan areas and in serving the international travel needs of San Francisco’s Latino population. The airline’s strategic growth in the U.S., award-winning service and the importance of strategic partnerships were also covered.
Daily flights from Mexico City depart at 7:05 p.m. CST and arrive in San Francisco at 10:15 p.m. PST. In addition to the new San Francisco service, AeroMexico currently operates non-stop flights in Los Angeles, Ontario and San Diego, California, to Mexico City with connecting service to other destinations in Mexico. Boeing 737/700 aircraft are used on the international flights.
The airline now services 16 major U.S. cities in 11 states. Service added since January 29 includes Las Vegas – Mexico City; Denver – Mexico City; and Albuquerque – Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, non-stop jet flights. Other U.S. cities served are Seattle-Tacoma, Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, New York City, Orlando and Miami. On March 3, the airline will expand its overall North American operations with its first Canadian service featuring non-stop flights between Toronto and Mexico City.
